Registered Veterinary Technicians
Rob has been with Sunset Animal Hospital since November 2012 and has filled several roles here. He started out working as a Camp Counselor at Camp Sunset and moved over to the hospital side as a veterinary assistant and now he is one of our main Registered Veterinary Technicians! Rob is a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force for 21 ½ years. He earned his Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Carrington College in July 2014. He has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since February 2015. He also has an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Systems Technology from Community College of the U.S. Air Force in June 2007.
Rob’s hobbies are traveling and photography, which having been to 50 countries should make for a spectacular collection of pictures! He is also a strategic gamer to keep his mind sharp and always problem – solving.
Rob is originally from Fairmont, West Virginia so all of his family still lives there. He does have his fur family of two very loyal companion, “Fiona” a 5 year old Chihuahua, which he rescued at Sunset Animal Hospital and gave them a forever home. Rob also has a saltwater reef tank that he unwinds, from his tough work days at Sunset, in front of. Last but not least, he has a new addition to his family, a dart frog that he loves to talk about!
Rob’s favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is having a critical patient respond to treatment, and seeing them reunited with their humans when they are discharged.
Kristina Soungpanya, RVT
Kristina came to us originally in February of 2013 as a veterinary assistant at Sunset Animal Hospital, left in May 2014 and came back to us as a Registered Veterinary Technician in November 2016. She graduated from Carrington College with an Associate’s Degree in May 2014 and has been a licensed RVT since March 2015.
Kristina’s has a special interest in the pit bull breed, as they are a very misunderstood one. She loves to spend time with her family. She has a 4 year old little girl, named Madison, who loves going with mom to the dog –friendly beaches with “Bruiser” their 2 year old Pit Bull. Her fur family also consists of “Mila” a 2 year old, grey and white kitty that Kristina got for free off of Craigslist!
There are several reasons that Kristina loves veterinary medicine, but the most important one is being able to nurse a patient back to health, making them feel better, more comfortable and comforting them when they are scared. She loves to make a client feel at ease, ensuring them that we will do our best in taking care of their pet, than seeing the look on their faces when we send their pet home feeling and looking better than when they first came in.
Sunset Animal Hospital is now proudly AAHA accredited! To become accredited, companion animal hospitals undergo regular comprehensive evaluations by AAHA veterinary experts who evaluate the practice on approximately 900 standards of veterinary care. Only those who meet the highest standards are awarded this distinction.
